CAD software is another tool used by drafters. CAD software alone cannot replace the knowledge required to construct a drawing. It makes drawing easier, but it does not replace the basic knowledge that enables a skilled drafter to manipulate either a pencil or CAD software. The basic concepts of drafting are the same for traditional and CAD drawings. By understanding the basic principles of drawing, the properly trained drafter can create and modify any type of drawing.
